August 31, 2023: Destines for...what?

I didn't quite catch that last part.

This week went by so fast. Not even sure exactly what happened, but it was good.

All of the trains in the beautiful city of Wesel are not running for the next month, so we take super slow buses whenever we need to get somewhere else, which is pretty often. It sounds bad, and yeah it's not great but maybe It'll help me get better at finding people on buses, because that's not my favorite thing to do.

We had our first exchange! I prefer the German word "Austausch". There's a whole slew of German words that are just part of our English lingo with other missionaries and it's great. So my companion and I split up, and I went to the beautiful city of Krefeld with Elder Manning, our district leader. We took our bikes on the way there, and one of the street trains was soooo full. We had two bikes, one guy in a giant electric wheelchair, 3 grandmas, and 3 ladies with strollers, all in the entrance part of the train. Just when you think we hit max capacity another stroller decides to walk in. We made it though, and Elder Manning and I shortly found that we both love to play tennis so that was super fun to talk about and look back on! We went to a ward activity thing there, I attempted to eat a wrap with Tuna and mystery vegetable spreads in it, and then we played some Ping Pong, naturally. Krefeld is supposedly really sketchy, but luckily I didn't come back with too many stories.

While there we visited a man named George (Gee-org). He is a recently baptized member who has been super sick for the last 15 years, and has been bed ridden for the last 4 or so. it's been really hard for him and his family, and there were times that he seriously considered ending it all. Luckily he's still here, and he has an amazing testimony. Seeing the peace and hope in his eyes that the gospel brings him is incredible! It's really difficult for him to get to church, but to see that even through his incredible hardships, he is still so confident in his savior and God's plan for him. He knows there is a reason he is still on the earth, and that each and every one of us has one as well.

Elder Koch and I went home after, and rode our bikes 45 minutes to get home because we missed the bus :)

A lady at church knitted a baby whale and would get mad if you didn't guess the animal correctly

I didn't study Lehi's dream this week!

I've been praying to hard to catch all of our busses, because they always get there like 10 minutes late

My comp Elder Koch always asks the best hypothetical questions. This week in FHE he asked someone "Elder stooki, what would you do, if you were in an ape aquarium."

I heard there's been some spider problems back home, so glad not to be a part of that. We did find a German tarantula the other day though, which I didn't know were real.

We had ZoCo, or Zone Conference! On Tuesday we made our way to Dortmund, and got to see a bunch of missionaries. It was like a family reunion! Almost as if fathers and sons, mothers and daughters were greeting each other. But no it was great, we got to hear from our mission president, his wife, our Zone Leaders, our sister training leaders, and it was a grand old time. The President's wife, Sister Cropper, is the most amazing lady.

We spent the night with our ZL's, and one is from the UK and the other is from Ireland, and it was so funny to listen to them talk. They really love beans and toast, like unironically. British culinary taste; you know it's not the same as it was.

We got back last night, and today we went to Duisburg and got to tour a Fußball stadium! It was super cool, a member actually is an announcer guy for the team there. We got to go on the ground, and see all the press conference stuff, and even got a discount in the gift shop through connections. We went to a Chinese Buffet afterwards, which was new but cool. I ate kangaroo meat.

That's all this week! I hope one day my emails will get shorter but until then, sorry.
