October 5, 2023: He picked the name Metroman

I chose something far more humble: Megamind, Incredibly handsome criminal Genius and Master of all villainy.

Luckily, this week was a step up from last week.

After P-Day last week, we met with a Jehova's Witness man, and a great battle of belief took place, even unto the shedding of blood. Just kidding, nothing really happened. He did talk to himself a lot though.

We had a lesson on Friday with a muslim lady, but as we started to close, it suddenly started POURING rain on us. In 5 seconds it went from no water to flash flood, and you could literally watch the downpour as it closed in on us. We rode our bikes from downtown to the church, and got absolutely soaked from head to toe. Unfortunately our other lessons fell through, but that gave us a little time to dry off at the church.

Just after that we had a church activity, so some families came to the church and we all played family feud together! Well, actually Elder Koch and I just sat in the back and kept track of points, but it was still fun to be there. We got a bunch of free candy that we're still snacking on.

We had a wonderful member meal with an old Polish Lady. She gave us these Polish sausages that look like snakes, but they smell like sausage and taste like sausage so I'm pretty sure it's sausage (Pic below). It was cooked in sauerkraut, which I was super scared to try but it actually wasn't bad! Not my favorite, but it went well with the polish snakes. ALSO, totally random but she gave us Doritos, salsa, and queso as an appetizer, which was a nice taste of home. Or at least a nice taste of what was once Ted's Cafe Escondito. We also tried fake coffee, which was really weird.

We had General Conference this week! It was the best one I've ever watched, and i don't know if it's because I'm a missionary or if it was actually that good, but nearly every single talk was so strong with the spirit. It really lifted me up after last week, and gave me that spiritual juice to keep going, and answered every single one of my questions in one way or another.

We had another member meal with the Oma who lives below us on Sunday! I don't know why, but Germans love to wait till you're full and then tell you that there's a desert. And then you are full of that desert and they tell you there's another one. And then after that, they do it again.

On Monday, I realized that I had my 100th day on the mission! Crazy to think about.

We had a service project, and took out a bunch of bushes on a farm from one of our ward members. There were spiders everywhere, but it was good. They had a bunch of goats and horses and sheep, and the goats were battling the whole time on top of a table, it was great :)

We had an exchange with the Krefeld Elders again, but this time I got to lead in Wesel. I took Elder Manning and showed him around Donkey Town. We got to go contacting, which was awesome, because I got to see somebody new do it.

Tuesday was The Day of German Unity, which was cool! For some reason, we went contacting and could only find Russian and Ukrainian people though. Not sure why, but Elder Manning and I got a couple numbers so hopefully we can teach one of them!

Also the trains are finally back up! We don't have to bother with the busses too much anymore, which is super nice.

Not a ton crazy or new happened this week, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but It's been a good week, and Heavenly Father has been by my side the whole time. I know that we have prophets on the earth today, and I know that I have a work here to do in Germany.

I love and appreciate all of you!

Tschüss!

Elder Tage Rex
