November 23, 2023: Look at the stars

Look how they shine for you

Hallo zusammen!

This week was a great week! It went by super fast though, so hopefully I can remember what I want to say in this.

We were door knocking after last pday, and i felt like we should cross the street, so we did, and the first building we knocked on was an arabic family of 4 who were willing to hear from us! That's the only success I've seen with door finding so far, it's not usually the most effective finding method, but the Lord prepares people.

We've been teaching one of our new friends Rizgar, who was reffered to us by the elders in Köln, and he's awesome! He speaks English with us, but his native tongue is Arabic.

We went bowling with the YSAs in our ward on Friday night! It was crazy, not a missionary environment at all, at least not what I've gotten used to for the last few months. I got some nice cardboard pizza, and listened to some normal people music. It had been a while since I heard Pitbull. We also listened to the weirdest EDM music on the way home with a member, we couldn't tell if it was sincere music taste or not😶

On Sunday we got to help Schwester Heyer decorate her Christmas tree, which was super fun, and reminded me of home. We actually only had 2 deserts this time, rather than 3 thankfully. We accidentally stayed wayyyy too long there though, because we were waiting on someone to drive home, and it knocked out our entire Sunday. It was good though :)

We finally had a lesson with our friends Eicke and Sophie after a month, and introduced them to Elder Gibert. Good stuff.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we did an exchange with the Krefeld Elders, and I went with Elder Picklesimer, a new elder to the district. He's chill, and we actually had a lot in common in terms of interests and how we used to use our free time back home. We went up to a monster apartment complex there to go knocking doors, eventually got scared and decided to just find on the street😅. There were like 200 doorbells to ring. I helped teach their friend Dennis (I think he plays tennis), who is hopefully getting baptised next month.

On Wednesday we had DRat, ate Sucuck&Chill, normal things. We ran home, had a lesson with Rizgar, and put him on baptismal date!! He is planning on getting baptized on the 23rd, so hopefully it works out. He just straight up asked us "what do I need to do, what is the plan for me", so we told him that we wanted him to be baptized, and strengthen his bond between him and the Lord by following the commandments and learning about Heavenly fathers plan. He basically just said "OK let's do it" and we set a date. Legendary.

Directly after that we had a lesson with Marita, and we put her on baptismal date too, so we got 2 in one day! It was crazy. Now we just pray that they'll keep their commitments.

Today for thanksgiving we went to Köln, and celebrated as a Zone. Everybody made food and brought stuff to the feast (we cooked up some bratwurst). We played some Magic the Gathering, but all of my cards are in german so I have no idea what I am doing, I just win sometimes.

Our mission focus this transfer has been baptism, so its really cool to be able to invite people to make that commitment to God and Jesus Christ, and have a covenant relationship with them. Its probably the only time in my life where I will consistently have that opportunity, or even at all. The spirit is there every time we talk about it, and I know that it truly is the key to a personal relationship with our heavenly father.

Please pray for the Rizgar and Marita, they will need it :)
