November 30, 2023: It was a long and dark December

 From the rooftops I remember

This week went by crazy fast! they just get faster and faster it seems. It's good though :)

First things first, we actually got 3 baptismal dates last week, we got another one about 30 minutes after writing my email haha. Its amazing to see the work of the Lord go forth. The dates will probably get pushed into January though, because we don't want to rush it. And December is just a busy time.

It's been getting super cold, even 5 layers is sometimes not enough when we're riding our bikes. The temperature just hovers around 28-34 consistently right now, and probably only going to get colder. The sun also sets at about 4pm, so a lot of time is spent in the dark.

We had a little miracle happen this week, on Friday we went to Kleve, a city about 1.5 hours away because we can only reach it through busses from Wesel. We were walking to someone's house to deliver a Book of Mormon, and I lost my phone on the way. We looked for about 30 minutes, retracing our steps, and couldn't find it. I used my Bluetooth earbuds to try to see if they would connect, and they would only connect in a specific area next to a certain house. I said a little prayer in my heart to find it. Eventually we knocked on the door, and nobody answered. Then a bike suddenly pulls out of the driveway, and we ask the guy if he's seen a phone. He said he was going to the police office to turn someone's phone in, and he let us have a look and it was mine! What are the chances that he was pulling out as soon as we pulled up, and barely caught him in time before going to the police station? And also just that he was kind enough to do that in the first place. Miracles are real :)

We did an exchange with our ZL's and I went with Elder Henrie in Düsseldorf (Unfortunately we missed Sucuck and Chill because of it :( ). But it was pretty crazy! He's a very hard worker, and basically runs constantly at double speed, so it was a little hard to keep up sometimes but we did some good work. I found a dude on the street in the middle of the Christmas markets playing the didgeridoo which was amazing.

So yeah Christmas markets are here! In Düsseldorf it was incredible, because its a massive city, and every street is just filled with lines of little huts with Christmas decorations and stuff on them, selling food and other Christmas trinkets. It really adds to the Christmas spirit of the whole place.

Today after shopping we got 4 Fleischkäse, which is way too much food. I was feeling sick by the end of the first one, but it was only 4 bucks for all of them. The other ones may never get eaten, but we shall see.

"Have a happy holiday season!"
