December 14, 2023: Such a pretty house

 And such a pretty garden

This will probably have to be short, but that's OK because I can't remember anyways.

Sunday was a little crazy this week, lots of people are sick (like my companion still?) and out of town, and they had no piano player, which I didn't realize until after we started singing accapella (not sure how one spells that). I passed the sacrament, and then I decided to go and sit next to the piano. For having no practice the first hymn went decent (angels we have heard on high). The second hymn I had never heard of before. Gar nicht. I played the intro, which was a train wreck so I just one handed it, which worked better than no pianist. Nobody in the ward had any idea that I played before then, and now I have been deemed the backup piano player woot woot! My mom prophesied of this, that I'd be playing the piano at church on my mission, and that it was important that I practiced. I kinda brushed it off then, which is awkward because it's happening now.

Another one of our friends on baptismal date dropped us this week, which was really sad. Again, my job was done, he just made the choice against it.

Transfer week is this week! We got notice on Tuesday who was going where. I've been assuming this whole transfer that I'm leaving, but to our utter dismay, Elder Gibert is Ghosting!
Ghosting: the act of a missionary serving in a particular area for only one transfer.
He's getting transfered to Ansbach, and I'm staying another in Wesel! I do love Wesel, but I'm ready to see more. But I know there's a work to do here, and I'm here for it.

The new missionary coming tomorrow is Elder Hill. From what I know, he's an incredible guy. The only problem is I might look short in next weeks pictures. He's 6'6". I'm super excited to serve with him!

Our mission office is currently looking for a new home for us, because we live 30 minutes away from the Innenstadt and we live with a grandma, which isn't normal, at least not anymore. It probably won't happen while I'm here, but mal schauen (we'll see). We told the grandma tho, and it about brought her to tears it was one of the saddest things. She said she'd adopt us to make us stay🥲. The sweetest old lady I've ever met.

I did an exchange with the one and only Elder Stucki in Krefeld, which is always legendary. He's staying there too, and we came in together and are both doing 4 in our baby areas. Kinda crazy! I know people who are already by their 3rd.

We're teaching a little boy named Pasquale now, who is the foster son of an incredible man in our ward. We're really excited, and he will hopefully be baptised sometime next transfer!

Oh yeah, and on Sunday we got to go to the Netherlands again! We ate butterfly schnitzel, and it was wonderful. When I eventually leave Wesel, I don't know how any area could compete with the level of amazing Omas here.

I've been reading in the Saints novel about the history of the church, the story of Joseph Smith and the early saints. Its amazing the sacrifices they made, beyond all odds. Their faith inspires me, and I'm incredibly thankful for it. They are proof to me that God lives and has a plan for us, despite anything we see.

Good afternoon, good evening, and good night!
