April 25, 2024: You were an Island

 But I passed you by

Great stuff happening!

We've been meeting with our 12 year old friend Dennis, and officially invited him to baptism. He and his mom are looking for and praying for a date currently, which we are super excited about! He is obsessed with Haribo gummy bears for some reason, so we bought him some as a present. If he shows up at church that is ;)

We had a game night this week where we played cards, and our friend christian from Syria (who has limited German and English) taught us a game. It was kinda like hearts combined with phase 10. It was pretty fun!

Sunday this week was crazy, we had a branch council afterwards (where the leaders of the congregation meet and discuss issues and how to solve them), and basically we made a plan to get members more involved with the missionaries! We've had very few meal appointments, and our connections with the members is somewhat limited, but they are trying to get us at least 2 every week so we are excited to get to know them better, and help them with their own missionary work. And eat some good German food 😁

After the branch council, a member from the church dropped us off our requested package from the Commissary (American military store)! It was more than we had asked for. We now have peanut butter, American Tortillas, chicken in a biscuit, hot and spicy cheez-its, taquitos, pancake mix and syrup, and Sausage in a pancake breakfast corn dogs things. I'm still flabbergasted to this day, it's glorious

We ate with the Weber family on Sunday and had chili con carne and played Yahtzee! That was fun.

On Monday we ate dinner on the American base, and I got panda express. They then took us on a surprise trip into the commissary and just bought a ton of stuff for us! I don't know what we do to deserve all of this, but we are very thankful. I got stuff to make some nachos me and my dad used to make and that I have fond memories of. They also bought us some "ginger beer" stuff, which is basically ginger ale except on steroids and then some. It burns your throat and you feel the flame in your belly after drinking it. It's wild.

Pirmasens
We had a white day (no sturdy plans) on Wednesday so we took a 45 minute train ride to Pirmasens, a city in our area. We tried to find inactive members there, but I think Wednesday afternoon probably isn't the best time for that, because we didn't meet anybody out of the 6 people we tried to visit. We did see a really cool cathedral with some fancy stairs and stuff to it though!

Asad
We had a lesson with a new friend Asad, who is from Pakistan and speaks great English. He's super cool! He loved learning about Christianity and the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and invited us to go hang out with his friends sometime, which we will hopefully do sometime.

Today we had a Zone Pday which was really fun.

That was the week!

Ich hab euch lieb und bis nächste Woche :)
