April 4, 2024: I'm on your side

For the rest of your life

We've got a new friend named Dennis, he likes to play tennis (he does not play tennis). He's 12 years old and his mom is a Brazilian member, and he wants to be baptized! So we said we could help with that, and hopefully within the next month or two that'll happen. We had our lesson with an American-Brazilian couple who bought a bunch of American snacks like chips and salsa, along with hostess cupcakes and Pepsi (I don't remember Pepsi being that good but suddenly it's really good). We played beyblades with Dennis, and had fun with the 4 dogs the family was dog sitting for break. It was great! Dennis also loves Mario, and I can get behind that. We taught him about the restoration, and the spirit was super strong. Dennis is awesome 😎.

A few weeks ago we had a Russian dude randomly organize a bible study with us, and brought his daughters with him to study the bible with us and the sisters. They came again this week because we told them we could introduce them to Family Search (A massive service run by the church where you can find your ancestors and who you are related to, it's actually pretty cool). We had a hard time making their accounts though, and not much family history work got done. It was just kinda awkward haha. For some reason they always wear earpieces like they are secret agents gathering intel on us or something, it's a little weird. We played pickleball afterwards for our game night though so that was fun!

Easter happened on Sunday! It was wonderful to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. I read an amazing talk from the spring 2018 General Conference by Elder Uchtdorf called "Behold the Man". I would really recommend it!

We went to 2 different sacrament meetings, because we performed our song "Forever" in one of the American wards. It went alright! I messed up a bit but it's all said and done so I can't complain too much. After that we went to a member's house for the first time since i've been in Kaiserslautern to celebrate easter. We hid easter eggs for the kids in their backyard which is basically a little wilderness area on the side of a hill, it was super cool! We ate some good food and played a few games.

We had Interviews on Monday! Not too much to say about that, but it's always nice to talk with President Cropper one on one. He is a man of much wisdom.

We did a District finding activity on Tuesday, where we took white boards and asked people what they were thankful for. There was a couple French ladies we asked, and they took a second to think and then one of them exclaims "Alles!" (Everything!). She then walked away smiling saying "Alles alles alles!" I wish everyone had that joy she was able to radiate. Unfortunately she walked away before we could talk with her further.

I led my first exchange as a district leader with Elder Thompson. He is an amazing missionary, and came in the mission one transfer after I did, I learned a lot from him!

I also conducted my first baptismal interviews for a couple the sisters are teaching! It was amazing to hear their testimonies and confidence in Jesus Christ, and the spirit was strong.  They're also going to get baptized in a lake which I'm super excited to see. Later that day we joined the Young men in playing dodgeball, it was fun to demolish some deacons like the days of old. (They were ok)

That's the week! We are just playing board games for P-day.

Ich hab euch lieb, bis zum nächsten Mal!
Elder Tage Rex
