May 2, 2024: Maybe Megamind isn't so bad after all

Pday again! I might get to play tennis later today too if the weather holds up. 🙏

(Update from the future- it did. Tennis was awesome)

On Friday we had an amazing activity. The Elders Quorum decided they wanted to start doing stuff, so we all got together and played football (⚽️) and ate pizza! It was a blast. I'm still not very good at soccer, but it's fun to run around and laugh every time I fail to kick the ball. Also I ate some "mac and cheese" flavored pizza. It was kinda good? The activity was a hit and everyone loved it, and one of our American brothers is just insane at football (⚽). He would play goalie but every once in a while he'd leave the goal and outmaneuver everyone.

Saturday was wild, we had 3 separate service projects, so it took the entire day. We didn't even have time for studies. We helped build that guys house from 10-12, which is always fun. After that we helped out with a primary activity from 12-16,  where we ran a little escape room for the little kids. They were so funny! We had 6 groups come through at separate times, and there never failed to be one boy in each group who decided that he is going to do it all by himself and no one can help me. From 16-17.30 we cleaned up the church a little bit and prepared for stake conference the next day by setting up chairs in the gym and overflow of the Chapel. Just like it is in Norman! Except we have cushioned chairs and not old brown metal foldable ones :)

We spent that whole day basically as a district so we decided we all deserved some District Döner.

Stake conference was incredible! We had 2 members of the Quorum of the 70 come. Our mission president also spoke there. All of the talks were great, and we managed to convince our Syrian friend Rand to come. Our whole zone of missionaries was there too!

There was however a little tender mercy we saw. Over a month ago, we visited an inactive family unannounced, and painted Easter eggs with the 2 kids and played with them for like an hour. It was incredible, the kids loved it and were begging for us to come back but the mother didn't seem interested in the church, but she still let us in. We left and thought our efforts were in vain and prayed for the 2 little kids. They made an imprint on us! Fast forward to Stake Conference, were just doing our thing, when we see a little girl running around with an adult. She looked super familiar, and then it hit us that she was the 5 year old girl from this family! One of her Uncles had asked her if she wanted to come to church with him, and she just happened to be there. She saw me later and they came up to me and she just squeezed me thumb super hard, excited to see me. Little did she know that that was some of the sweetest joy I had felt in a while :) the Lord's tender mercies are great!

Another little miracle- We had a lesson with this dude named Noel who is super interested but because of personal stuff we don't know about we haven't been able to teach him since I got to Kaiserslautern (3.5 months ago). But, he's coming to church, got engaged, and is meeting with us again! Woot woot!

We met a random homeless dude on the street walking home after contacting on Tuesday, and he was like "you guys got a bible for me?" And we were like "nah but we got a Book of Mormon! It works really well with the bible" and he insisted that he needed a bible. We told him we've only got a book of mormon to give out. We were right next to the apartment so we told him we could go grab a Book of Mormon for him right now if he wanted it, and he said ok. Definitely had a couple screws loose, but we went up and grabbed one, came down and gave it to him. He was very disappointed that we didn't bring him a bible (I guess he misunderstood and thought we had one) and did not accept our book if Mormon. We told him we would look for one and meet again tomorrow. Interesting fella.

We had a referral yesterday, but it was just a name and a street- no house number, no phone number, nothing. So we decided to go to the street, me on one side, Elder Evans on the other, and scanned every house/apartment building on the street for the guys name. After 20 minutes we reached the last one, a massive complex with at least 200 names on it. We found his name but he wasn't home. We left a little note with our numbers on it. There were a bunch of jungs (boys) causing a ruckus though, as the jungs do. They just kind of form a bunch or little gangs and pretend to be edgy, it's quite interesting.

That's basically it!

Liebe Grüße
Elder Tage Rex
