August 1, 2024: Just nod if you can hear me

 Hallo zusammen!

First, I took more pictures this week! We will see if I keep it up. I'm setting a goal to take at least one every day.

We start with Friday, where we were having a Zone competition, Elders vs Sisters to see who could get the most lessons. It was a little unfair, because there are 8 Sister companionships and only 5 Elder companionships in our Zone, but it was only 34-38 so in my books it's a win. We were able to get 6 lessons that day! We also met with a sweet old inactive lady who's husband is very against our church, and she is going to start reading her scriptures again which we are excited about.

On Saturday we had our missionary coordination meeting and we went and saw the Maria Säule, which is a super old tall pillar with Mary the mother of Jesus on it that looks over the valley that Trier is in. We then went to a Konditorei (kinda like a pastry shop, lots of cool cakes and sweets). That was cool!

On Sunday we met with Harry to plan out hid baptism. It was also our friend Senke's last Sunday in the ward. Luckily we were able to plan one last lesson with her on Tuesday. We also had our friend Mohammed at church! He rode over an hour in the bus to make it, he is dedicated. He has a lot of challenging circumstances in his life that we can't directly help with, but he's able to find peace through the book of mormon.

We went finding on Monday and found some great people! One guy from Indonesia and another lady from India. We were on our way home, and right before we walk into the door to our apartment a dude on a bike pulls up to us and is like "do you remember me??" Ans we're like "uhh..." and he's like "yo I used to meet with you all like 6 months ago but we stopped because I got busy. You all are awesome, come knock on my door sometime!" Basically. That was a cool little miracle. We also had a little branch's FHE and played some Farkel together, for those who know it. (Blast to the past for the Rex Fam).

We met with our friend Adisa on Tuesday and had an awesome lesson with him. We then met with Senke for her final meeting with us. She has an incredible testimony of Christ and of the Book of  Mormon. She was willing to be baptized, but just wants to be taught everything first. We got her in contact with some people in her new city, and said bye. She told us that next time she hears something negative about the LDS Church, she will tell them to find out for themselves, and not judge first, because thats what she did. That was coming from one of the most quiet and shy people I've ever met. It was incredibly sweet. We also transferred another one of our most progressing friends that day, Alexis, back to her new military assignment in the US. It was sad to let two of the most golden people we've ever known go, but they are in good hands.

Yesterday was a fun day, we basically helped our two Indian friends with moving into Trier, which is awesome because now they will be able to meet with us a lot more often! It's also just fun to do service. Driving a bunch of suitcases and stuff around town.

We had a district pday today, so we went to Saarbrücken, where I believe one of my ancestors was killed fighting in WWII (he was on the winning side). We were going to go to an art museum, but we chickened out (we were frogs, as the Germans would say) to the entry fee. We got ice cream instead, found out tennis was playing on the TV for the Olympics, and then went to the lego store. Its been fun!

I've recently started studying the old testament,  and it's really cool to look for references and prophecies that speak of christ. Here's one of my favorites, und zwar
Job 19:25
"For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth"
The main role of every scripture and every prophet is to point toward Jesus christ, and I'm thankful that we have scriptures and prophets of old, as well as those of the modern day who can testify and always point us towards Christ, who is our redeemer who lives.

Ich wünsche euch was! Bis nächste Woche.

Elder Tage Rex
