August 15, 2025: You use your heart as a weapon
Another week!
We get transfer news this Saturday! It'll happen next Wednesday so I will let you all know what's going down next week.
First off, Friday! We went to District council which was wonderful, and followed it up with some district lunch at a big food truck festival! It was a bunch of burger joints from around Germany, and they were traveling around the country selling exclusively their signature burger. Everyone then has the chance to vote on what was the best, and each truck wins prizes based on each city's votes. It was super cool! I picked out the one voted as the #1 burger joint, because they had like 8 plaques in front of them claiming to have won in all the other cities. It wasn't actually a burger, it was a patty melt but it was absolutely delicious! And presented quite eloquently.
Later that day Harry had his baptismal interview! He traveled 2 hours to Heidelberg just for it. He is so committed.
Saturday we did a bunch of contacting in public and were able to give a Turkish book of mormon to a family! It was really cool. We also walked through downtown and there was a bunch of street vendors. We bought a little guitar made out of bent metal wires to give to a friend who we thought would like it.
On Sunday we had branch council and the branch president fired off like 15 different people he knows who are interested in the gospel, it was insane! He said he is going to have us over for dinner to meet some of them so we are excited about that! (It would be in Luxembourg as well ;) )
We woke up early on Monday to help a couple pack up and move out of Trier. Always fun to do service! We visited a sweet old innactive lady, and we played card games with some branch members. I taught them Kuhhandel! (A German classic in the Rex house)
We went on exchanges on Tuesday with our ZL's. Theyre both super funny and we did a lot of good work together! Also, it's over 2 hours to Heidelberg, so that was a fun drive! Also for all those wondering, no, the autobahn does not apply to missionaries. (The autobahn is Germany's famous speed-limitless highways.) Our cars are monitored and if you go over 120km/h (~75mph) a little voice in the car let's you know you're going too fast.
We had district council again on Wednesday, the last one of the transfer.
Today we went and visited our boy Sam from Indonesia and we made some fried rice together! I got to go into an Asian Market and buy some curry paste and that is always an adventure. It was some awesome food.
I've decided recently that goal setting is amazing. I don't know where its been all my life before my mission. God is able to work more with us as we commit to work more with him, and setting and recording goals, as well as praying for them, shows him that commitment. I have a testimony of that and I have seen it play a huge roll in my personal development on my mission, and it can for you too!
Well that was the week!
Hope you all are doing well and feelin' the love.
