August 29, 2024: Paternity Leave
(This is last weeks email. I didn't forget to write- I just forgot to Send)
We got news this week! Last Saturday I got the call from President Cropper that I would be staying in Trier and that I'm training! From missionary conception to birth, its only 4 days so i I picked up my brand new baby missionary yesterday evening. They grow up so fast!
His name is Elder Haws and he's from North Augden, Utah. He's super cool, very tall, and already has pretty good German. He's gonna be an incredible missionary and I'm excited to watch him and guide him towards his potential.
In other news, we were able to pick up our friend Adisa back! He didn't want to meet with us for a while and we were able to discuss his concerns and it was amazing. He should be coming to Harry's baptism on Saturday!
Speaking of, isn't that awesome how my baby missionary gets to experience a baptism on his 3rd day in field? We're super excited!
We got to meet some youth last Friday and I got to play tennis for a bit with one of them which was awesome.
We also found 4 people back to back in a row who were interested in book of Mormons, it was a miracle! We had only like 20 minutes for finding, so we walked down this little green park in the city. We noticed one dude alone so we went and talked to him. We were the first people to ever talk to him in germany! He was so happy to have friends and even sang us a song in his native tongue (Arabic), gave us some hand sanitizer, and then put some Cologne on us from Sudan apparently. It was totally awesome
. He wants a Book of mormon. We then met another dude, also arabic speaking who was interested in a BoM. Then we talked to two more dudes, both named "Ahmed" who were also interested. All back to back. We should be meeting with them all tomorrow!

Anyways, things are going great! I'm super excited to see where this transfer takes us.
I want to just share a quote from Brad Wilcox's talk 'Worthiness is not flawlessness':
"Some mistakenly receive the message that they are not worthy to participate fully in the gospel because they are not completely free of bad habits. God’s message is that worthiness is not flawlessness. Worthiness is being honest and trying. We must be honest with God, priesthood leaders, and others who love us, and we must strive to keep God’s commandments and never give up just because we slip up. Elder Bruce C. Hafen said that developing a Christlike character 'requires patience and persistence more than it requires flawlessness.' The Lord has said the gifts of the Spirit are 'given for the benefit of those who love me and keep all my commandments, and him that seeketh so to do.'”
he then quotes: "Elder Richard G. Scott taught: “The Lord sees weaknesses differently than He does rebellion. … When the Lord speaks of weaknesses, it is always with mercy.”
No matter where you've been or where you currently stand, His grace is sufficient.
