September 26: The road is a ray of light

Little bit of a roller-coaster week! A lot if incredible things happened tho.

Significant events:
- we went to Luxembourg! Our branch president lives there with his wife and 10 kids. They're basically an American family, all of the kids sound American and only our Branch president has a little French accent. We had a little youth activity (which is the branch president's kids and some friends they invite) and we played some pool (I slayed) and had some bbq and a devotional. It was fun!
-I got sick on Sunday, and had a very long early morning to say the least. We didn't make it to church, and I slept half of the day. It turns out, about 2/3 of our branch was sick as well! Luckily Elder Haws was feeling alright.
- we had a bunch of people who were going to come to church, and we were so excited! We told them we were sick though and nobody showed up 🥲. Always another week though!
- we met with some amazing people.
  - Angelika (the lady from last week who texted us when I gave her our number) brought a friend to a meeting with us. We had a very simple but very sweet lesson with them. Angelika said that we had directly answered a prayer from her in the saddest time of her life so far, and that God had sent us to her. We met with her later in the week as well, and she confirmed that, as well as shared how it seemed to her that we glow and had a light in our eyes and a joy about us that she has never seen before. She has been through a lot of difficult things in her life, and although she never shared any specifics with us, it was apparent to us from what she did share. She has a tender heart and is ready for the gospel message. It was amazing to see through both of our meetings with her how she came in on the verge of tears and very quiet, as if one wrong step would shatter her soul. As we shared the truth and light and love that comes through the charity of Jesus Christ, you could literally see the change. She would smile and laugh and be curious enough to ask questions. Unfortunately, nothing gold can stay. Due to a hard past in Trier, she had decides that Thursday (today, as I write this), was the day that she needed to leave. She's moving to Hannover to get a fresh start. We are praying and hoping that she can find stability there, and that the missionaries there will be able to support her well. Pray for Angelika!
-we met an old guy named Peter last week, and were able to meet with him yesterday. We were totally unsure how it would go, but this 70 year old man is on a real search for truth! He is literally the coolest, and I think part of that is because he's just a normal dude who cares about the welfare of his soul and that of his wife and kids. We taught him about how he can find personal truth through prayer, scripture study, and the words of prophets. It really seemed to click with him. He's a testimony to me that how we interact with others really matters, and does more than we sometimes recognize. He told us that he met with us because we were talking about God in public (which is quite uncommon in Germany), and also because of the manner in which we did it- with polite confidence. Another part of that is that he was neighbors with some members of the church 30 years ago. His comments are that they were always "very helpful, very kind, people who loved God and were happy. They also had a lot of kids." I doubt that family has any idea the impact they had on missionary work just from being an example of good upright saints. It's so cool!!
  - we also met a little French speaking African guy who is just awesome.
- Rohit (on Baptismal date) unfortunately decided he needs more time before he decides to be baptised. He also ran into some anti church stuff on YouTube. Pray for him that he will be strengthened!
- our washing machine is still broken. The senior couple here is literally like our parents, they just take our clothes and wash them for us! they're amazing, they even fold the clothes. we should have it up and running next week.
- transfers next week!

Passt auf euch auf!
