April 10, 2025: Spent some time away
Another week in the city of Wiesbaden!
Here are some highlights:
Our friend Joel continues to progress towards his baptism! We told him about General Conference snd that he would be able to listen to apostles and prophets speak and he said "you mean I get to hear an apostle speak?" We answered "Yes" and he replied "I've been waiting for this my whole life!" The plan is for him to be baptized on the 26th of April.
We had general conference on Saturday and Sunday, which is a worldwide broadcast in our church where we hear from the apostles and prophets and they share inspiring messages focused on Jesus Christ. It's always super uplifting and spiritual! On Sunday our mission president let us stay up till midnight so we could hear the prophet, Russel M. Nelson speak. It was awesome!
We had an awesome miracle yesterday. We had a referral that hadn't gotten back to us through text or call yet, so we decided to visit them. This happens quite often, and throughout my entire mission I have never had success visiting someone who hadn't responded to our texts. We went anyways though, and they actually let us in! The first thing i noticed was that there were 2 bibles open on their table, that was a good sign. It was a mother and a daughter, both German. They said they are interested in learning more about Christ, and so we taught them about Jesus Christ and his church as well as about the Book of Mormon. The Spirit was strong and they wanted to learn more and asked where they could get the book. We gave it too them right there and they said they're going to start reading that day. They said they would like us to come back and that they'd like to come to church on Sunday as well. And that's just the beginning- the mom explained that her husband, as well as her daughter and her husband would also be interested and that we can all meet together next time. In the next week we might be teaching a family of 6 and we are super excited! I've never taught a family in their home on my mission before, and it is such a cool experience. Please pray for this family!
We have an ice cream date with our mission president next Friday because we are his favorites! Just our companionship, him and his wife. We're looking forward to it.
Spiritual thought:
I just wanted to share a quote from General Conference I liked from the talk "Thou art the Christ" by Sister Amy A. Wright.
She states:
"This Jesus should not be a fictional Jesus, or a simplistic Jesus, or a bodiless Jesus, or a casual Jesus, or an unknown Jesus, but a glorified, omnipotent, resurrected, exalted, worshipful, powerful Only Begotten Son of God, who is mighty to save. And as a young child in the Philippines compellingly testified to me one day, 'We are worth saving'"
Danke fürs lesen! Bis nächste Woche!
