May 15, 2025: Don't let go, I need your rescue

 This was a pretty good week! Elder Mattern and I are doing great and having fun.


I actually started the week sick, so we stayed in on Friday, but we went back to work on Saturday. We taught a new friend from turkey who is super cool and had our new member Joel at the lesson too! He bore some awesome testimony. We also got to so some service for a member where we dismantled and transported a big swing set. 

Unfortunately the mission nurse advised us to stay home on Sunday because of my sickness. Probably for the best but a little unfortunate.

Monday was Zone Conference! My last one. It was pretty great, always a good spirit and great to see everyone. My previous companion Elder Stubbs was there too because now he is an Assistant to the President and it's awesome to hang out with him. 

Other than that we've mostly been finding new people to teach. We spend a lot of time on the street and we've been visiting members as well, encouraging them in their missionary efforts. It's a process but it's paying off!


Here's a quote from the talk "ask in faith" from Elder Bednar. My companion and I have been talking about it a lot!
"If you and I would truly pray and ask in faith, as did Joseph Smith—if we would pray with the expectation to act and not just to express—then the work of proclaiming the gospel would move forward in a remarkable way."

Sometimes our prayers become wishlists- but when we ask for something with faith, and follow it up with action, God can and will make it happen, especially if it is missionary work!

  First- Happy Thanksgiving!!  Second- I did not write last week. There may be some lost content but it's been a great couple weeks since my last email! We've been teaching a crazy amount of lessons and it is awesome. We have a very nice variety of languages, backgrounds, and people we're teaching. It's probably about 33% German, 33% English (often from Nigeria) and then 33% other where we have to involve translation, wether Turkish, French, or Arabic. It's super cool. We have a few people making a lot of progress: Alex: I was calling up old contacts a couple weeks ago and a Turkish lady named Alex picked up the phone and we made an appointment. We ended up meeting with her but she couldn't speak much German at all. We set up another appointment and got some translation there, and then God worked some insane miracle! April 24, 2025: Ramstien

  Happy Easter!  This week was good, Elder McCann is feeling a lot better so we've been able to get outside more.  We celebrate Easter on Sunday and heard some awesome church talks. After that we went to a members house and ate lunch. It was with 2 iconic 50 year old dude from the Ward who are best friends named Bruder Jetter and Bruder Balico.  Two member families also showed up and dropped us off a bunch of food and sweets for us! It was super thoughtful of them, and home cooked food tastes way nice. They also gave my companion some nice Crocs! Our friend Joel is doing great, he had his interview and is ready to be baptized this Saturday! We are super excited for him, and he is even more excited. He's been really great making relationships in our congregation and has so much enthusiasm for the gospel. March 13, 2025: Mama, dein Sohn ist ein Gangster

  Here are the good things: - Elder McCann got his wisdom teeth out and is now recovered! We got some awesome videos of him. The German dentist is pretty brutal though. His face looked like a chipmunk for 4 days  - we found some cool people! I talked to a guy who said no at first, but as I was walking away he asked me where I was from. I told him America, and then he asked which state. I told him Oklahoma. He then starts speaking really good English to me and apparently went on a school exchange in Stillwater Oklahoma like 30 years ago?? What are the chances? That's was a really fun conversation. Figured he's probably an OSU fan though so I didn't get his phone number.  - we had an awesome day at church on Sunday, our newly baptized member Okwuudili showed up without getting a ride with someone (the person he usually goes with is gone) so he traveled upwards of two hours to church. He missed the sacrament portion, so we were able to do a mini sacrament with him afterwards...
