July 25, 2024: Talkin' with the Man in the Mirror

Another week gone by! We had a lot going on so it went by super fast, and I don't have much time so here are the highlights! I got my drivers license! We've been cruising through the german countryside and it is so beautiful! We were able to get 7 people to sacrament meeting, which is super cool in such a small branch. I met our friend Harry who is on baptismal date! He's amazing, German, and wears a suit every day. We got to drive to Heidelberg for Zone Conference, Interviews, and an exchange with our ZL's! It's about a 2.5 hour drive so that was exciting. We also spent the night in Kaiserslautern, one of my past areas so it was a cool throwback! On the exchange with the ZL's we tossed in some of our online lessons, and one was with our friend Senke who we found on the street a couple weeks ago. This was our first real lesson with her, but she'd already been reading in the Book of Mormon on her own and basically testified that it helps her feel closer to ...

On a cold dark winter's night We got a lot done this week! There's so much work to be done here, and it's incredible.  I'll start with Friday. I had my District leader training meeting, and then we basically spent the rest of the day studying and going retro: knocking on doors. We actually had success knocking for the first time in my life! One of the first doors we knocked on was a middle aged lady who said she was busy, but actually gave us a time to come back. Later that day we were visiting some people who had been dropped months or even years ago, and we went to this one apartment, only knowing that the man we were searching for was named Peter. Most of the names on the building are just last names, but we found one that said Peter and went for it. He was a grumpy old man in a wheel chair who had no clue who we were. We were going to leave, but we decided to go and knock the rest of the doors in the apartment, and it turns out that was inspired because there was ...

Disappear when anybody's close Lots of crazy changes!  We had transfers already, and we got to see the transfer board on Saturday. I got transferred to Trier! I'm actually already there as I'm writing this. It's the oldest city in all of Germany, so there's a ton of history and cool roman stuff! I've only been here a day so i haven't seen much yet, but pictures will come  . It's a big change from Frankfurt because it's a much smaller city, but I think it'll be a bit less stressful which is good. The Church is also very small here, there's about 15 members who come regularly, and 10 of those are just one family. I'm actually really excited to get to work here though, there's a lot to be done! Our president let us watch one game from the Euro Cup soccer tournament, so we watched the game of Spain vs Germany with all of the young adults in Frankfurt. It was super tragic to watch Germany lose, but it was a super fun game!  We had a memb...

July 4, 2024: I'll be waiting in line

Just to see if you care Let's get into the week!  News item number one: we got desks! We've been trying to get desks in our apartment for the entire transfer, because we had 2 couches and yet no desks. It finally happened! It's really convenient, I forgot how nice it is.  We've been teaching our two Arabic friends (whose names I have yet to attempt to pronounce) and its really cool because they have next to no background in religion. We have to start from ground zero to build their faith, and it's difficult, but inspiring. We hope they are able to feel the spirit and come to a knowledge of their father in heaven! There was a baptism in a neighboring city that we visited which was really nice. A missionary baptized his phone on accident (it was in his pocket while performing the baptism). After that we did a bunch of garden work for a member. Service projects are the best. I never thought I'd do garden work with a smile on my face in my whole life, but here we ...
